Pandora

I love Pandora. This free online radio service has been around for long enough to pass the test of time. On Pandora you set up stations based on songs or artist you like and Pandora does the rest (picking music to play that matches your preferences). As you listen to your stations you can vote on the music Pandora picks for you. Spending a few minutes voting here and there over a few months will really help you create amazing radio stations. Click here to get started: www.pandora.com

Right now Pandora is blocking access to anyone outside the US. There are ways to get around this if you really want to (Link). You might also want to check out Last.fm I like Pandora better, but that's just me.

Feel boxed in by the normal browser version of Pandora? Read more for a few good programs to help you get more out of Pandora.

Check these babies out:

  • OpenPandora - Let's you play pandora without a browser, combos with Last.fm, use wiimote to control music play.
  • PandoraFM - combines Pandora and Last.fm
  • Pandoras Jar - let's you save the music being played to mp3, also combines with Last.fm
  • FoxyTunes - Use it to control Pandora within your browser
Just in case you care - Here are the artists I used to create a study music station (minimal words mostly soft background music): Dan Gibson, Danny Wright, David Lanz, Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, Enya, George Winston, Jon Schmidt, Kurt Bestor, Lorie Line
