Joost

One day you will be able to watch any and every TV channel online. Until then, there's Joost.

Joost is to YouTube as Gmail is to Hotmail.

The program is supposed to be the next way to watch television programs with your friends. And, they've got some big names on board (CBS, National Geographic, WB, MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, Nickelodeon).

What's the catch? Just like Gmail was, Joost is by invite only. Also (so far) they aren't streaming live tv. Basically, you choose from a list of 5-6 preloaded programs per channel to watch.

Interested in catching up on the life of the Canadian Bear? Leave a comment with your name & email and I'll send an invite your way.

A big thanks to Fahim Farook for introducing me to Joost! (tab em)

I don't really agree with Joost=YouTube, I think Joost is the first legal version of internet TV vs social tv content. In that respect its not even really web 2.0.

But I also haven't used Joost yet to give my full thoughts :D
Could you send an invite??

Dan, you're right, but the problem I have with calling it true internet TV is the fact that programs aren't streamed 24x7. You choose from a short list of programs per channel.

Very simplistically, it's like YouTube for TV companies, they upload content and you choose what to watch.

I like the idea of Joost, but cannot comment on content or quality. I have not used it.
It would be great to get invited...

Sounds interesting. I am curious. What is so special about gmail that it is by invitation only?

I'm definitely interested in trying Joost. I've heard both good and bad things about it, and I can't wait to check it out for myself. I would love an invite if you've got one to send my way.
